Ghana 2010 Day 02

Here is a link to photos from Day 2.

We arrived in Accra, where Richie, Chief Takyi, and Pastor Johnson met us at the airport. A Kente cloth that said "Welcome to Africa Mission 2010." was placed around each of our necks, like receiving a Lei in Hawaii, and we were greeted with a big hug and Akwaaba to Ghana from our hosts.

We got to the house which has welcome posters hanging and the staff their was full of smiles and hugs. The rooms had our names hanging on them and Ghanaian chocolate bars were on our pillows. So over the top of Richie to make it like that.

We took the team to the Tema market for a while. Experiencing the sights, sounds, smells, and tempo of the bustling market made for a great contrast in cultures! It's not quite Wal-Mart, that's for sure! Fresh produce, live chickens, salted/dried fish, slabs of beef, pork and goat.  Crates of eggs, spices, brightly colored fabrics, clothing, household items -- just about anything you can imagine -- arranged in tiny stalls separated by narrow alleyways. And the sounds!!! People talking in several different dialects, Ghanaian music playing, children laughing -- and the inevitable greetings extended to us as we walked along: "Obruni!! Obruni!!" "Are you from America?" "Welcome to Ghana!" "Akwaaba!"

Everyone is catching up on sleep this morning. Richie and I are meeting this morning about the schedule.... as if you can harness the wind.

I felt the Spirit on the way here, telling me NOT to place restrictions on it. I AM ALL FOR THAT!

Pray the Spirit of GOD has it's way with all of us!

Amen, so be it
