Ghana 09 - Day 03 - JG Gates & Dump Day

---
Ghana is home. Ghana has great food and friendly folks that we consider family.

Ghana has a way of kicking you in the gut.

I thanked GOD for the gut punch today, I need them to humble me.

We visited Jerusalem Gates Academy today and look forward to seeing the kids there again next week, though the trip to the Dump today seems to captivate my thoughts at this moment.
Here is a photo of Anita and Elizabeth, a girl that was sponsored by a friend of our named Elizabeth from Peachland, North Carolina and a few other kids from the school.

---

Now contrast them with these photo's from the Dump....

When we arrived at the dump, we were told this section is called the Airport and that you must pay a fee for special membership to access this area. Why? Because the GOOD left over food from the incoming flights is brought and dumped here.
When I got home and processed these photos and saw the Delta bag in the background, my heart just sunk, remembering what I was served on the plane and realizing ... well you know.

YOU can be the difference in their lives. You can sponsor one from the Dump and into school or you can share all about them as far and wide as you can through email, websites, facebook, myspace and in your local communities.
YOU can change the world for one of the least of these. For many of them in fact!

as I sit here I cried because I saw Elizabeth close up.But most of all I cried to think these little children are picking through the dump for food.I thank God for people like you that are helping these people & work so hard at it.
I ask for God to take extra good care of you all there & returning home.wishing I could bring Elizabeth here!!!

Thanks for all the many photos David. It is so helpful to put the pictures with all of your words to try and have a glimpse of what you are all experiencing. Our hearts are breaking here, but we are talking about how to put the sadness into action. We'll see what God has in store. Love to you all.
